Hello Catholic Utah Community!  We hope you are having a wonderful summer!  Please read the following carefully to find out what's happening in Catholic Utah!

Upcoming Events Planned by Catholic Utah:

Join us for our Catholic Utah picnic THIS SUNDAY at 4:30pm!
Bring your kites, soccer balls, gloves and bats and join us at Canyon Rim Park’s East Pavilion for a Catholic Utah picnic!  Meet others and connect with Catholics from around the diocese at this fun event!  We will have a Taco Truck that accepts cash and credit cards and Catholic Utah is providing dessert.  This event is OPEN TO ALL!  Alcohol is allowed at Canyon Rim Park, so BYOB.  Thank you to Magdalene Religious Goods store, John GileTrent HornJon Leonetti, and Patrick Madrid for their generous donations of books and goods that you can win at the picnic!  Sign up at CatholicUtah.org

Catholic Utah Book Club for our mid-20’s to mid-50’s “in-between” adult crowd!
We had a successful first meeting of our book club on June 17th at St. Vincent School.  Fifteen people gathered to discuss Something Other Than God by Jennifer Fulwiler.  This book is an easy read and describes Fulwiler’s conversion story from atheism to Catholicism.  If you missed our first book club, but are looking for a good read this summer, definitely consider reading it!

Our next book club meeting will be in the fall and we will read Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.  If you would like to join us, please email Gracie at gepalomb@gmail.com.  Even if you only plan to read one Catholic book per year, we would love to have you join us when you can!

Announcing future speakers!  Save the Date!

  • We are thrilled to announce that we have invited Jon Leonetti to return to Utah in the fall!  Jon will speak at Theology Uncorked on Friday, November 8th and we will host a Large Community Event OPEN TO ALL on Saturday, November 9th--with Coffee this time!

  • We have also booked Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers to come to Utah September 11-12 in 2020!  He will speak at Theology Uncorked on the evening of the 11th and we will host a Large Community Event OPEN TO ALL on Saturday, November 12th, 2020.

We have received Diocesan approval for both of these speakers.

Consider donating to Catholic Utah!
Thank you to all who have been so generous in your support of Catholic Utah!  Your donations have allowed us to pay the necessary deposits to book Jon Leonetti and Deacon Harold.  We are still working hard and sending requests for a speaker for Spring of 2020, but do not have enough in our account to move forward with a deposit once an invitation is accepted.  We have faith and will keep praying for your financial support.  Ticket prices for our events help defer our costs a bit, but do not cover the entire cost of our events.  We rely on your donations to bridge the gap.  We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit and will continue working hard to Educate and Build Community for Utah Catholics.  Donations can be made at CatholicUtah.org/donate.  Thank you for believing in this ministry and please consider making Catholic Utah part of your contributions to your faith development this year!

Other Catholic Events We've Heard About:

Holy Hour at the Carmelite Monastery:
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Rosary, a Homily, and Benediction at 3pm on the 3rd Sunday of Each Month.  The next dates for this Holy Hour are July 21, and August 18.  Some "in-between" adults have started attending this regularly and encourage others to join them!  This is OPEN TO ALL!

"The Weekly Way of Christ Talk and Meal." at St Mary's in Park City:
Every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30pm, (excluding holidays, etc.), join St. Mary's in Park City for faith, food, and fellowship! Each week, Fr. Gray will lead an invigorating discussion on one of the foundational aspects of the Catholic Faith, followed by a fun and informal potluck meal. All are welcome! Bring friends and consider sharing a snack, dish, or refreshment.

The Way of Christ weekly series is perfect for those first discovering Catholicism; for cradle Catholics seeking a refresher on the faith; for converts, teenagers, or young adults wishing to deepen their faith; and new parishioners seeking to learn more about the St. Mary's community. This is an ongoing initiative and each week will be unique. Prior attendance isn't required. Come when you can!   Email  kbeeler@stmarysparkcity.com  for more info.
